Are you desperately looking for a new perfume? Maybe you’ve already asked your friends and colleagues for some advice at this point. And the result? Differing suggestions for fruity or floral fragrances, or maybe a fruity chypre? Or even worse, your girlfriend’s birthday is coming up, and you’re not really feeling inspired. After 2 hours at Sephora, they still haven’t managed to explain the difference between a citrus and an oriental… In short, you’re totally lost. So as a last resort, you frantically type “woman perfume” or “fruity fragrance for women” into Google. Looking for inspiration, you are hoping to stumble upon THE perfume. Good luck with that! Well, this article is for you and will (hopefully) answer all your questions.

Fruity fragrance for women : a bit of history
Although perfumery goes back thousands of years (there were mixtures of flowers, spices, and plants used for religious rituals in ancient times), the family of fruity fragrances is much more recent. And though their history is relatively brief, trust us when we tell you that it is filled with many successes. In 1919, Guerlain released Mitsouko, the world’s first fruity perfume featuring a beautiful peach note as its star ingredient.
Well, it’s called peach, but it is actually C14 aldehyde. Fruits are one of those rare ingredients in perfumery whose natural extraction is simply impossible. So perfumers reconstitute them using synthetic ingredients (they are harmless and of very high quality, so you don’t worry). Moreover, at Sillages Paris, all of our synthetic ingredients are of the finest quality, made from naturally occurring compounds and, above all, ultrasafe! Don’t hesitate to take a look at our hundreds of personalized formulas.
Even with Guerlain’s breakthrough success, it wasn’t until the 80s that fruity fragrances really came to the fore. Around that time, perfumers began to play with these ingredients, which gave them a new palette of expression. They no longer just used them in simple, regressive fragrances, but also incorporated them into more distinctive juices and increasingly sophisticated compositions. In the 90s, the trend was towards natural scents, as well as gourmand notes, which were widely used in women’s fruity fragrances. So fruits are very much in vogue, as can be seen with the continued popularity of Angel and its succulent plum.
What will you come across if you type “fruity fragrance for women”?
So don’t start thinking that fruity women’s perfumes are just sweet signatures for teenage girls, and that they look cheap. On the contrary, a well-balanced hint of fruit adds modernity, originality, delicacy, and, above all, freshness to compositions. Fruits are top notes, which means they are quite volatile and light. Basically, you can smell them when you spray the perfume, but they quickly give way to the heart and base notes, which remain on the skin for longer. Be aware that in perfumery, we differentiate between fruits and citrus fruits, which are classified in the citrus family.
The advantage of fruits is that they are as numerous as they are delicious, so you can have fun creating thousands of different compositions! The tour de force of fruity perfumes is that they can be as innocent as they are sensual, as acidic as sweet, and as light as they are intense, but one thing is certain: they are always deliciously irresistible.
So what fruit do I put in my perfume?
We’re so nice at Sillages Paris that we have decided to help you. Here are some tips for choosing the perfect fruit to suit your current mood!
Choose the phrase that most resonates with you and let our guys’ tips guide you!

I’m fed up with this world of bullies, and right now, I need a little sweetness and delicacy.
We recommend you choose fruits with a velvety skin and delicate juice. They are the perfect representation of both tenderness and elegance. The most obvious fruit is the sweet peach, of course, but don’t hesitate to add some pear for a less creamy and juicier appearance. Or even figs which will add a milky and elegant roundness.

It’s sunny, it’s hot, and all your worries are in the closet!
Your goal right now is to take a bite out of life and look on the bright side! Don’t hesitate any longer and allow yourself to be tempted by the tastiest kind of fruit: the red fruit. This delicious harmony gives the compositions a retrospective charm that takes us back to our wonderful childhood memories. When mixed with flowers like roses or violets, they bring a sublime powdery side. You can also soften the composition with the addition of white musks.

Conqueror mood activated (#girlpower)
We admire you for being natural and zesty, which is why we suggest tart fruits like apple and blackcurrant (for an even greener facet). These two ingredients give both freshness and crispness, as well as the hint of sweetness that makes us all fall in love. You can spice them up with light flowers such as freesia or soften them with sweet white musks.
Fun fact: in fruit astrology, the taste of apples suggests honesty, leadership, and impulsiveness.

Are you in a sexy mood?
Don’t hesitate and go for the coconut! Deliciously exotic, it reminds us of summer and all those beautiful women on the beach that we watch from the corner of our eyes. The milky and monoi character of a coconut will make you almost want to bite into it. To raise the temperature another notch, we recommend you mix it with spices like pepper or leather.
Now all you have to do is create your own unique perfume that will always hit the mark, unlike the “fruity fragrance for women” that everyone is wearing!
